So many of us prepped for our private ticket by practicing short and soft field take offs and landings from a strip of concrete. For those of you that fit that description, you're missing a great part of aviation. Just ask John McKenna, President of the Recreational Aviation Foundation (theraf.org) John and 5 of his Montana friends started the RAF to help preserve and grow back country airports. A volunteer organization, it's pure passion that drives their efforts and success. Take a listen and learn about this very important and beautiful aspect of aviation. Marc and Al also talked about progress towards a Drivers License medical for a larger segment of the private pilot population as well as how researchers are working towards using brain scans to understand when a pilot is overloaded and when to shift tasks to automated systems. Finally, Marc encourages us to learn from an American Airlines 1997 video about task saturation. Search for "Children Of The Magenta" on Vimeo or YouTube to understand how to reduce your workload by REDUCING your automation. Thanks for listening!!!! Al and Marc
